Thunder drop inaugural game in the AIFA to the Lions

In the first game for the Columbus Lions as a member of the American Indoor Football Alliance, they hold off a 2nd half surge from the South Florida Thunder. A fun Mother's Day outing for a decent crowd at the Columbus Civic Center brought a lot of entertainment and some high-octane offense.

In the first half, Columbus seemed like they'd dominate as they led 47-12 going into halftime. But, surprisingly, the Thunder "stormed" back, as their name suggests, and outscored the Lions 44-26 in the second half, but it was a little too late.

Quarterback Marcus Brooks threw 8 touchdowns for the Lions, and long-time Lions like Droell Greene, Desmond Reece, Ramond Deloatch, and Ken Washington continued to dazzle the home crowd with great ball skills of their own.

The defense looks like they'll need to adjust as they head into the bye week. The Columbus Lions will host the Carolina Predators Arena Football Team next on Saturday, May 27 @ 7:00 PM EST.

The South Florida Thunder will have two straight bye weeks as they prepare to take the road back to Georgia to play the Peach State Cats on Saturday, June 3rd @ 7:00 PM EST.
